Aleix Espargaro received the FIM MotoGP World Championship race Sunday at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, in Spain. Driving his manufacturing unit Aprilia RS-GP, the Spaniard received the restarted 23-lap race by simply 0.377 second.
Espargaro’s Aprilia teammate Maverick Vinales was the runner-up, and Jorge Martin completed third, 2.831 seconds behind Espargaro, on his Prima Pramac Racing Ducati Desmosedici.
The race was marred by two incidents on the unique begin. First, a number of riders crashed in a chain-reaction incident in Flip One. Then seconds later, Francesco Bagnaia highsided popping out of Flip Two and his proper leg was run over by one other rider.
Crashers between the 2 incidents included Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini, Marco Bezzecchi, Brad Binder, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Alex Marquez, and Johann Zarco.
Bagnaia and Bastianini didn’t make the restart. Bagnaia was taken to a neighborhood hospital to get extra detailed scans of his injured leg.
