MotoGP, OFFICIAL – Contract signed: Ducati and Bagnaia together for 2 more years

Francesco Bagnaia and Ducati Corse have reached an agreement. The Italian rider will be racing with the Ducati Lenovo Team’s official Desmosedici GP for two more seasons.

Born in Turin in 1997, “Pecco” Bagnaia made his MotoGP debut in 2019 with the Pramac Racing Team’s Desmosedici GP, with which he also took part in the 2020 season, reaching his first podium in the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Lenovo GP.

Promoted to the official Ducati team last year, and after a pole position and a third place in the inaugural GP of the 2021 season in Qatar, the rider from Turin continued to shine and soon became one of the stars of the championship. With 9 podiums, 4 wins, and 6 pole positions, Bagnaia finished 2021 in second place and is now looking forward to starting the new championship on March 6th at the Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar.

Being a Ducati rider in the MotoGP has always been my dream,”  Pecco Bagnaia said. “And knowing that I can continue in the Ducati Lenovo Team for another two seasons makes me really happy and proud. There’s a serene environment in the official team. I feel really in tune with my team, and I know that we can do great things together. Now I only have to focus on doing well in this championship. A very heartfelt thanks to Claudio, Gigi, Paolo, Davide, and to all the Ducati Corse staff. I’ll try to repay their trust with my results on the track!

Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager for Ducati Corse, added: “We’re really happy to have Bagnaia with us for another two seasons. Since his arrival in Ducati in 2019, Pecco has demonstrated a great talent and is able to interpret our Desmosedici GP very well, adapting to all conditions. He did it especially well last season, during which he grew significantly and fought for the world title. The way he handled the races in Aragón, Misano, but also Portimão and Valencia, with four fantastic victories, is proof of his maturity as a rider. With these great qualities, we’re sure that he has all the potential to be able to aim for the world title with us.
